Continue to use HTTPS and keep your operating system and browser updated. Be careful with unexpected downloads and sign-in prompts. A VPN is one part of connection privacy, not a replacement for those habits.
A Wi-Fi icon tells you that you joined a network; it does not confirm an active VPN. Use your client’s connection status and test your usual browsing. If the VPN disconnects, its protection may no longer apply to subsequent traffic.
